warning, maybe???

as of right now this is just hear say. i heard some things about the move the golden compass so i did some Google action and found some pretty hefty clams about it being anti-God and pro atheism. here is just one of the reviews i found. like i said i do not know that this is true but it's worth looking into and a movie with this kind of a shadow i think i will be avoiding all together. kids have enough to worry about these days with out movies about killing God.

the claim - click here

the writer answers - click here

the news - click here

my opinion, with all due respect i think he is full of it. i think you can hear the way he talks about religion and power and close mindedness and so on and see that he is bitter and cold toward the things of God. he is not foolin me with those answers.

with that said the movie it's self looks really cool, i love fantasy movies and would probably really enjoy it, but until i can prove it's not about killing God and promoting a world free of religion.... i will not watch it

please let me know if any one else has any info on this.

Oh, how many lives are wasted by people who believe that the Christian life means simply avoiding badness and providing for the family. So there is no adultery, no stealing, no killing, no embezzlement, no fraud - just lots of...PG-13 videos in the evening (during quality family time). This is life for millions of people. Wasted life. We were created for more, far more.

i don't know who you are i have a feeling your not john piper. but i totally agree with you. life is far more then just being bad. i believe we where created for God. and so we as people can never fulfill our purpose with out him, for we are for him. meant for his glorifying, and we both know that God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him! laying around watching movies made by people who hate God is hardly showing your satisfaction in God. i think that would be a perfect fit for the verse "friendship with the world is enmity with God". when we support things that are very clearly opposed to our Lord i think we are living out that verse. i do believe that was what God meant by that. let us seek more heavenly pleasures.

My husband had to read this book for a college class (youth lit.). His take is that it was very anti-catholic religion (he was raised catholic). You could check the book out from a library to see for yourself what it says, and you're not giving the author any of your hard-earned money. Well, not directly anyway.

It is interesting to me that they praise his writing. My husband said it was *the most boring book* he ever read, and he does not think schoolteachers should make children read such drivel. People do get more interested in things that are shrouded in controversy. It is hard to know what is the right thing to do: see the movie and speak out if that is warranted, or ignore it and hope it will fall under the radar and flop...???
